National HR Directors Summit Countdown Begins Ahead of Annual Event

The countdown has begun for the National HR Directors Summit, bringing together some of the leading voices within Australia’s HR industry.

HRD’s virtual event, sponsored by ELMO Software, kicks off on Tuesday 30th March. Featuring an array of speakers, the live conference will delve into the challenges and trends facing the industry over the next 12 months. After an incredibly disruptive year for HR and businesses across the globe, speakers will debate where they think the industry is headed and share world-leading insight into successful HR strategy.

Speaking to HRD ahead of the event, ELMO Software’s CHRO Monica Watt, said the recent HR Benchmark Survey showed the outlook for the industry is overwhelmingly positive.

“Businesses are now ready to embrace and move forward after COVID-19. Among the respondents, small businesses with fewer than 200 employees were the most optimistic with 89% reporting an expected increase in headcount,” Watt said. “It just goes to show there has been a really positive uplift and part of that is coming out of COVID-19 stronger than before.”

The research signals the perfect time for HR leaders to reassess their strategy going forward, taking on board the learnings of other industries and sectors which have already faced some of the challenges around remote and hybrid workforces.

Event speakers include Katie Dunne, HR leader at TikTok, one of the world’s fastest-growing social media platforms. She will discuss how to lead a remote workforce, sharing her experience from the fast-paced tech industry. Later in the day, Charles Hamilton Ferguson, APAC general manager at Globalization Partners will lead a workshop on the shift towards borderless workforces and how the pandemic has made hiring overseas more viable than ever.

The event’s three-panel discussions will cover some of the most pressing topics facing HR right now. Experts will discuss the critical importance of mental health and wellbeing strategy, led by Dr. Nick Taylor, co-founder, and CEO at Unmind.

Panelists will also look at the future of performance management in a post-Covid world, and how HR plays a leading role in building business agility, flexibility, and adaptability. Speakers will draw on the lessons of the last 12 months, as well as look ahead at how HR leaders can prepare for the next big workplace trends.

The Workplace Lawyers will also provide insight into recent unfair dismissal case law and trends that HR needs to be aware of. Managing partner, Hannah Ellis, and special counsel, Alina Kaye, will discuss strategies for navigating unfair dismissals and the impact of COVID-19 on procedural fairness.
