Amazon Launches 2 All-Women Delivery Stations In Kerala

Amazon Launches 2 All-Women Delivery Stations In Kerala

Amazon India has launched two delivery stations in Kerala, which will be operated by a 100 percent all-women team. The stations, at Aranmula and Kodungallur, run by Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) will employ over 50 local women. This is also a step towards ensuring safe and meaningful employment to women, which, in turn, will lead to their economic upliftment.

Through its ‘Delivery Service Partner’ (DSP) initiative, the Company collaborates with partners — small and mid-size businesses or SMBs — to take maximum advantage of their familiarity with the local geographies and communities, to ensure efficient last-mile delivery. The move is part of Amazon India’s endeavor to offer more job and growth opportunities to women in the logistics space and to further its diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) agenda.

Earlier, in September 2020, Amazon India had established a delivery station in Kadi, in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, managed entirely by women. The first-ever all-women center of its kind in Gujarat, the women delivery personnel there have been provided a helpline number to use in case they need help or support of any kind, while out delivering parcels within a radius of two to five kilometers of the center.

The women operating the stations are trained to handle customers, packages, technology, and safety issues.

The e-commerce major is also trying to give opportunities to military veterans as well as differently-abled people, across its network.
